The second stage of the production process is the framing. Each boat is framed with all select grade wood members. The roof framing is 2” x10” joists 16” on center utilizing joist hangers. On boats over 19’ in width, pre-engineered structural joists are used as standard. Interior walls are 2”x4” and 2”x6” framing at 16” centers. All floors are ¾” tongue and groove plywood.
Cortex panels are used on the exterior walls in an 8’, 8’6” or 9’ height. The
customer has the choice of an insulated sandwich panel of ¾”/ ½” plywood, or a
¾” panel with blown insulation.
As an option, Stardust offers a structural framing system that utilizes 6”x1 ½” aluminum framing vertically and horizontally throughout the cabin that is then welded to the hull framing system. This type of construction offers additional structural reinforcement for added stability needed in rougher waters.
